What is Technology?
There are many definitions of technology; however, there are only two types: human-created technology and technological advancements made by man. Examples: The invention of cellular phones, which can perform the same task of a computer. Cellular phones are now being highly lightweight and portable, another benefit of technology. And the birth of robots for the worldwide automation of human tasks.
In our high school science classroom we are often told that we need to use technology in the classroom to help us solve problems using technology in the future. It’s true that human scientists have invented new technologies over the years to help them with their research, but what’s not true is that these same technologies can be used in the classroom to give students real world experiences. Consider some of the examples of classroom technologies that can be used to encourage students to think about the physical world around them and how they fit together.
Using technological tools for teaching students visually is important to visually engaged students. By incorporating digital exhibits, slide shows, videos, and other interactive tools into the teaching process, teachers can provide a rich and engaging visual experience that stimulates thought and inquiry. In the classroom, students learn through the senses such as sight, touch, and hearing, and in turn this stimulates their visual cortex so that they learn visually. These visual experiences using modern technological tools can include everything from 3D modeling to playing video games, using tablets in the class, and even using mobile devices like smart phones and PDAs to conduct class activities.
Using an Amazon Kindle to read eBooks, is an effective way for students to learn about the physical world around them and how it all comes together. When used in the classroom, an Amazon Kindle works as both a book and a computer in that the book can be read on the Kindle and then downloaded onto a personal computer, and the computer can also be used to run applications and download files from the Kindle. In this way, students learn about how technology and the physical world work together, and with the use of the Kindle, students can build digital models of cars, birds, houses, planets, and more. This visual experience, along with the eBooks that are included, has a powerful effect on learning.
The creation and distribution of eBooks have revolutionized the publishing industry and the learning process for students as well, allowing for an engaging experience in science, math, history, and other academic fields. One of the latest developments in this field is the use of the Amazon Kindle to access various technological products that are available on the market. Whether the student wants to read about the construction of the Eiffel Tower or the latest model Honda Accord, they can do so using an Amazon Kindle. By accessing the various technological products that are offered by various manufacturers, students not only get to learn about various technological products that are out on the market, but they are able to find educational books, videos, music, and more that can assist them further in their education.
So the next time a teacher or a student needs to learn about technology, they should not look any further than the Amazon Kindle. This device offers students, especially those in the classroom, the ability to learn about all aspects of technology from a variety of different perspectives. Whether the student wants to read about cars and bird watching or the construction of the Eiffel Tower, they can do so with the Amazon Kindle.
